Who Is Casa Verde?
Casa Verde
is a developer and builder specializing in the construction of high-performance,
“green” structures using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Green Building Rating System™ certification as our standard. LEED was developed
by the U.S. Green Building Council and is the nationally accepted benchmark for
the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an
immediate and measurable impact on their building’s performance. LEED promotes a
whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key
areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water
savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental
quality.
In 2007,
we broke ground on the first LEED certified residential project in Indianapolis.
Early in 2008, we will start construction on our first LEED Affordable Housing
project in downtown Indianapolis, a 13-unit condominium conversion of a 1915
apartment building.
Our mission is to create attractive, high-performance residential and commercial developments which are
economically and environmentally sustainable and which have a fast sales cycle.
Casa Verde homes will be attractive and appropriate for the neighborhoods where
we build.
There is a groundswell of support for “green” construction in all parts of the
U.S. The City of Chicago has an official Green initiative which encourages LEED-certified
construction through incentives. The growing concern over climate change and the
popularity of hybrid cars are the macro evidence of public acceptance and
interest in renewable resources and sustainable development. Rising energy
prices brings an additional market advantage to Green built products.
